English Accent Learning Videos - Why English Is Difficult To Learn

English Accent Learning Videos - Why English Is Difficult To LearnI bet you've heard that there are English accent learning videos that can help you learn to speak like an American, or an Australian. There are also programs that teach you to speak the dialect of New Zealanders, or even French Canadians. Does any of this sound familiar? If so, it's probably because you've ever been to school in a new country and then returned to study in your home country. This is called 'cross-culture immersion' or simply 'cross-exposure'. The reason that these training courses are popular is because people tend to assume that learning a new language is easy. In reality, it's not. To become fluent in one language, or even several, takes months of constant practice. Now, some people, maybe too many people, have wrongly concluded that English isn't very difficult to learn. And they get upset when they learn that they don't speak the language very well.If only all of us could speak English like Shakespear e! However, the truth is that English is a very complex language, and you really need to study it for some time before you feel confident that you can read, write, and speak the language fluently. It's no good just getting an English accent when you first visit Australia. There are many reasons why you may be wondering why English isn't so easy to learn. First, English is a very close relative of our native German. So, because we share so many similarities, it's much easier to pick up German, Dutch, and other European languages, than it is to pick up English. The reasons for this include that these languages all come from Germanic origins, that they tend to be slightly simpler languages, and that they also borrow a lot of vocabulary from each other.Secondly, most Americans tend to be what linguists call 'negative accent speakers', who use their first name or nickname to introduce themselves in conversations. This has led to the belief that Americans use American English, and only Ame rican English. As we all know, this is definitely not true.Another reason why English isn't so easy to learn is that you need to be well prepared before you set out to learn. Having a schedule for the lessons you need to do and the number of hours you need to study is vital. It will also help you to be able to determine how much effort you can put into the lessons, and whether they'll actually stick. There are many websites which offer various English accent learning videos. They may vary in cost, depending on what you're paying for. Make sure that the website you choose offers quality, not just quantity.

The Underappreciated Art of Singing and Playing Guitar at the Same Time

The Underappreciated Art of Singing and Playing Guitar at the Same Time Well, then, How Do You Actually Sing and Play Simultaneously? ChaptersBefore Playing Guitar and Singing at the Same TimeListen Carefully to the Song (Before Playing and Singing)Practice SingingPracticing the GuitarIntroducing RhythmAlternate Between Vocals and GuitarLearning to play the guitar is not necessarily very difficult in itself, but it requires patience, concentration and hours of training to get the correct sound. If you are happy to strum a few guitar chords, and you are happy to do away with music theory, guitar solos, and more advanced guitar skills, you can be playing well in no time.On the other hand, singing is a completely different activity with its own techniques and methods.  Knowing how to play guitar is one thing, but having the dexterity to navigate the fretboard whilst singing away is a little different.Singing and playing the guitar at the same time is not as easy as it sounds.  It's a bit like rubbing your tummy and patting your head, as your mouth and hands are doing different things - different pitches and rhythms - simultaneously. You will have to learn to synchronize the vocals and the guitar, which presupposes that you already have some basis in both areas (and have followed some guitar lessons). You will need substantial vocal ability, and be comfortable covering several octaves.Similarly, to sing while playing the guitar, you have to master the basics of the guitar, to play rhythm chords and be able to hold a rhythm for vocals. If your rhythmic base and your guitar playing are unstable, your singing will be wobbly and the results will not be what you are after. it should be easy to play on guitar (metre: 4/4) and easy to sing along at a normal speed, with an accessible melodic line (the Beatles or Stealers Wheel are excellent example).Do not push yourself too far to begin with, or make things too complicated, because you risk putting yourself off.Of course, playing guitar can be difficult.Your brain and your fingers will need to know the tune by heart.Working on the Guitar and Vocals Separate lyThere is no real method for learning to playing the guitar and singing simultaneously. If we can give any advice, it would be to work on both skills separately before combining them when you feel at ease (maybe after following guitar lessons). Start with your weaker skill; if you're a singer, start with the guitar and vice versa.Google online guitar lessons and start learning.Listen Carefully to the Song (Before Playing and Singing)This seems obvious, but many people neglect this stage.Having listened to a song dozens of times and feeling like you know it does not mean you have really listened to it carefully. Train your ear to spot highlights, toned accents, chord changes, and different tones. Do not hesitate to ask your guitar teacher for help. No guitar teacher? Find one for guitar lessons London or Oxford.Listen before you play!Find out if some phrases are longer than others, which will mean varying the tempo as well as changing the melody. You have to listen to the song as if you were playing it yourself, which will train your ear and give you a new outlook on the piece.Being able to play the guitar and sing at the same time is a  question of listening.Practicing the GuitarThe guitar does not only serve as grounding for your song, you will need to develop your skill so that your chosen piece is the pinnacle of your musical achievement.Always choose a simple rhythm to begin with and play the chords in rhythm focusing on your guitar. How to sing while playing the guitar?Do not try to simplify your playing by strumming using the back and forth technique as it will lessen the interest of the piece.Progression MethodIf you want a more gradual approach to playing guitar, this is how it’s done: take the rhythm of the piece in its simplest form and repeat this exercise until its final form.Understanding the rhythm on your guitar is essential if you want to be able to sing along while you play your instrument. The greater your command of the rhythm, the easier i t will be for you to play and sing in time without having to stop and think about it later on.Once you have the guitar part down, start singing in your head without making a sound. You should already notice a slight difference in the level of concentration required to continue playing at the right rhythm.Continue this exercise until everything becomes natural.Being able to remain focused is vital to being able to play and sing at the same time.Introducing RhythmRhythm is the main issue faced when playing and singing simultaneously. You need to learn to play the guitar quickly.  If you are not in rhythm you will fall out of time and your song will fall apart, it’s that simple.Breaking Down SyllablesOnce you have got the rhythm of the guitar and the rhythm of the song, you will need to combine them so that they synchronize.  This is the first step covered in guitar lessons.  Break down the lyrics by syllables and work out which note or stroke they correspond to.This method is academ ic, but it works very well to help you understand each step of the piece, and to memorize the different phases of the song and the score.Using InstinctAnother method would be to pick out the important syllables, those that coincide with the main chords on the guitar. As soon as you hit a more accentuated note, find out what syllable it corresponds to, and use this as a method to keep time. This method gives you reliable benchmarks without adopting a strict, analytical methodology. Both this latter method or the former, more academic one, are phases you will have to work through as you learn your piece. The more you play the better and more natural your guitar and vocal skills will become. Eventually you can learn to improvise on the guitar.Alternate Between Vocals and GuitarGetting your priorities straight is an important concern when you want to play the guitar and sing at the same time: you may have a better grasp on the guitar part or the vocals, to the detriment of the other.  If yo u misplay a note it may impact the way you sing. The aim is to keep the intensity of your voice and your playing in tune to form a harmonious and coherent whole.Practice to Develop Coherent Singing and PlayingOnce you have mastered the vocal and guitar parts separately, try playing the guitar and singing with the same intensity, almost monotonously.Overtime, playing and singing becomes second nature.Repeat the same thing singing and playing more intensely, and then again slowly. Finally, try varying intensities progressively: play and sing softly then go crescendo playing and singing at maximum intensity.  Repeat this exercise in the opposite direction until playing and singing almost at a whisper.  By performing these little exercises, you get a feel for the different phrases and nuances of the piece. You can also mix it up by singing softly while playing hard and vice versa.  You will discover new effects that will enrich both your guitar playing and your song. Now learn all you need to know about buying a quality, low-price guitar...

Kids Guitar Lessons How Often Should My Child Practice

Kids Guitar Lessons How Often Should My Child Practice Madalyn Danielson Odds are that if your child is taking guitar lessons, your child chose to play the instrument. Unlike stringed instruments, piano, and classical instruments, kids usually choose to start playing guitar. Kids guitar lessons are a great start, especially when they are geared to your child’s age, but the only way your child will really progress with the guitar is through regular practice. Practicing is a unique challenge when it is an instrument that a child chooses to play. People tend to take up the guitar imagining they are going to sound like a rock star in no time. It won’t take long for the disillusionment to settle in, and kids can be particularly susceptible to feeling discouraged by a lack of progress. Also, setting up a strict practice regiment can do as much harm as good. Your child wants to play for fun, so practicing needs to be regular and enjoyable. The Minimum Recommendation Your child should practice regularly, just like a student in band or orchestra. Students should average between two and three hours a week. The recommended time is 20 minutes a night, six days a week; however, this can be difficult to fit into your schedule. If it is not possible to work 20 minutes into a day, students can break it up, spending half an hour to 45 minutes each day of the weekend, then getting in 15 to 20 minutes on three week days. If there is additional time to spare during the weekends, your child will see better results by practicing closer to five hours a week. Having a day or two every week to get lost in the music and ignore the clock is one of the best ways to both inspire a budding musician and to think of practicing as a pleasant experience instead of a chore. During your childs guitar lessons, the focus will be on execution and technical aspects, so they might focus less on the music itself. The best time for your student to get lost in the music is when he or she is alone and practicing. Steady Practice vs. Practice in Bursts The thing to keep in mind is that practice is most effective when done regularly. While your child can get a lot done by practicing an hour both weekend days, if they don’t practice the other five days  a week, improvements will be slower to show. Like anything else, regular practice is always better than occasional long sessions. Staying Motivated to Practice There should be something about practice sessions that makes them fun for children. This is something to discuss after your kids guitar lessons. Their guitar teacher can recommend what would be most beneficial at each particular phase in the learning process. What you can do will depend in part on your own musical skills. If you are not musically inclined, set up time every week for a “concert” to give your child an audience. Make sure to praise your child’s progress. Point out the things you noticed that showed a better understanding of the guitar, even if it is as simple as playing steadier or not needing the sheet music. Encouraging words can give your child a reason to keep practicing. You can even invite friends and family over occasionally so your child has a real audience. If you play a musical instrument, join in with your child a couple of days a week. Have a duet session to make it feel more like a band since that was probably what inspired your kid to start playing. If you don’t play but are comfortable singing, you can sing while your child plays. Musical collaboration is something that can really inspire children to keep going with their instrument, because there is an amazing sense of accomplishment. Signing up your child for guitar lessons is a great first step. Your child will learn the basics and will be given music that is appropriate for his or her current skill level. Plus, a guitar teacher will offer encouragement and criticism to help your child improve. However, without practice, your child’s skills will remain nearly unchanged. Two to three hours a week is the minimum amount of practice needed to start really seeing results. The practice should span at least four days, but is best when done six days a week. Helping your child stay motivated to practice will go a long way to convincing your child to practice more often. Interested in Private Lessons? Why Focus on Leadership Skills - Introvert Whisperer

Introvert Whisperer / Why Focus on Leadership Skills - Introvert Whisperer Why Focus on Leadership Skills? You may have noticed I have a focus on Leadership and I think many people think that means I only work with executives and managers.   I can understand the implication but there’s a bigger purpose for that focus which directly affects you â€" in a very big way. I focus on Leadership skills for two VERY important reasons: Exhibiting leadership skills is the fastest path to promotions â€" regardless of your position, level or career aspirations. Leadership is sorely needed in every group and is in seriously short supply. That’s why there are so many poor managers out there making life miserable for their subordinates. If you think about both of those goals it amounts to more pay, greater success and career satisfaction.   Who wouldn’t want those things?   We all do! Some people think getting a promotion is primarily a factor of time.   If you do your job long enough you will get more pay and a high position.   I won’t kid you; it is a factor as statistics reflect it even in businesses that have what they consider a meritocracy (pay for performance).   However, for those rare few people that demonstrate leadership skills, they accelerate the process of promotion. Why is promotion accelerated for people with leadership skills?   That type of person becomes a clear stand out in an ocean of “mediocre” co-workers.   In my 21 years managing at Intel and 9 years as a coach, I’ve observed that very little is different from one group to the next.   Very few people do anything to distinguish them from the others.   Most people perform the job and contribute little more than what I would call the “minimum” to get by.   Yes, most people want to think they are rock stars but rarely do anything to ensure they are. What I’ve said might sound negative or insulting but mostly it’s just a fact of life.   Its how “most people are most of the time”.   The good news is that with very little extra effort, you can be a standout rock star that managers dream of having in their midst.   You will make yourself easy to promote because you are doing things that are more than the bare minimum.   You are the dream employee and for that you will get richly rewarded. Hopefully, I’ve made my case.   Even if you have no aspirations of leading the charge, we all have times when we have to step up and be a leader.   Why not capitalize on leadership skills and give you paycheck and level a “lift”?
